over the top, outrageous fun, with a huge circus
like party atmosphere. You will come away from a
Death and Taxes concert knowing full well these
guys gave you 110% of their heart, soul and sweat,
to deliver a two hour excursion into the world of
Rock & Roll fantasy.
DEATH AND TAXES, founded
in 2003, includes Michael Cutting of
HOLY SOLDIER
repute on guitars alongside former
XYZ
man Paul Monroe on the drums. The trio of singer
Jay Link, Cutting and bassist David Starkey were
all members of late seventies Chicago Rockers
TUFF LUCK.
Starkey has a lengthy tradition with acts such as
AVENUE,
TNT,
FIRST CALLING,
SHOWDOWN,
SHOVELHEAD,
NEXT TEN DAYS
and
NEON CROSS.
DEATH AND TAXES debuted in 2003
with the self-financed four song EP 'Waste Of A
Perfectly Good CD'. An album, 'Inevitable', will
be released in late January via the band's own
Dead Moose label. Drummer Paul Monroe would be
replaced by Izzy Dias. Throughout 2006 the band
cut album tracks working with engineer Eric
Falborg, with Michael Cutting producing.
Death and Taxes formed
originally as a studio project in December of
2003. We have a long history as bandmates in bands
from the early 80's. Michael (guitars) Dave (Bass)
and I were in a working band from 1981 to 1985
called "Tuff Luck", based in Central California.
So the original members with Death And Taxes were
myself, Michael Cutting on Guitars, Dave Starkey
on Bass, and a friend named David Bentz, who is
stilll an amazing drummer. When Mike, Dave and I
regrouped in LA for the 4 song demo session, Eric
suggested his friend Paul Monroe would fit with
our Neo-Classic Rock Style, and Paul , who is from
the well known 80's band XYZ, came in and blew us
all away. It was like we had played together for
years, and Paul did everything in one or two
takes. Paul is now a great friend, but with family
and a full time computer business, he is unable to
tour, so for live touring, we found Izzy Diaz, who
is a student of Danny Carey of Tool, and has
worked with Neil Turbin of Anthrax fame. Not only
is Izzy the nicest guy in the world, He is quite
handsome and all the girls just love him to death.
He is one of the most powerful and fastest
drummers I have ever had the pleasure to work
with. He brings a more modern sound, and a harder
edge to the songs live, we are very fortunate to
have Izzy on board. Michael Cutting of Holy
Soldier fame and Jay Link are currently in the
studio completing 6 new Death and Taxes tracks for
their full length CD release titled "Inevitable"
which will be released in early 2011. The New Year
will also bring more music from Death and Taxes in
summer of 2011 with a tour of the US, Canada,
Australia & the UK be put into motion.
